Support for Medical Professionals
As a medical professional/trainee, you are exposed to multiple unique stressors in your work/learning environment, which have likely been amplified during the pandemic. Whether you are experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue, impostor syndrome, discrimination and harassment, tense relationships with colleagues, or dealing with the aftermath of a medical error, I will bring the experience and expertise I have acquired working with resident doctors to help you navigate such “occupational hazards” in healthy ways and restore your sense of balance based on your personal values.
Relationship difficulties
Conflicts within significant relationships, whether romantic, familial, work, or social, are not uncommon. However, if these are persistent and cause you daily distress, I wish to offer you a neutral listening ear and help you clarify your needs and expectations from the relationship(s) in question. We will work together on identifying unproductive communication patterns and helping you employ strategies demonstrated to improve interpersonal skills, assist in conflict resolution, and strengthen human connection. I will also help you determine whether couples or family therapy may be a more fitting option.
Anxiety & Depression
Anxiety and depression are the most prevailing mental health issues in Canada. If you are struggling with persistent worrying, intrusive thoughts, debilitating self-criticism, guilt, shame, and/or feelings of despair, you don’t need to suffer in silence. I will work with you at your own pace to uncover the sources of your present struggles, and help you experience relief from distressing thoughts and feelings and (re)gain a sense of control using cutting-edge, evidence-based practices.
Grief & Loss
Losing a loved one, by death or separation, expectedly or not, can bring a tremendous amount of emotional pain and suffering. No one should have to go through this alone. Having someone outside of your personal network to talk to trustingly for as long as you need can promote healing and help bring -with time- a sense of closure and inner peace. I will meet you where you are at and accompany you caringly through this challenging time in your life, while helping you approach it with self-compassion and regain your sense of purpose.
